LOVE NEVER FADES
LOVE NEVER FADES
It all begins as below……
The day began under a silver sky overcast, yet glowing with hidden sunlight. It was Wednesday, 10:00 AM. Satish had risen early, driven by the quiet gravity of the day. It was a special occasion, and Divya, the love of his life and the mother of his two children, was waiting for him.
Outside, a soft rain began to fall. These morning showers always pulled him back to the day they first met. That summer rain, four decades ago, had been as beautiful and enduring as the relationship they built afterward.
For today, Satish had chosen a vibrant bunch of Blue Orchids, Divya’s favorite. He wore the black shirt and trousers she had bought him just months ago for their anniversary. Making her smile had been his life's mission since day one; sometimes he did it with a surprise cake, other times by cooking her favorite meal. Lately, however, flowers spoke the words he couldn't.
He drove to their meeting place, parked the car, and took a deep breath. At the gate, he hesitated. To a stranger watching from afar, he might have looked like a man on a first date, nervously adjusting his collar and collecting his thoughts. He felt that familiar flutter of anxiety, not because he needed an icebreaker, but because he feared the silence. He thought of their last meeting; it had been peaceful, but he always worried the connection might feel different this time.
Realizing that standing at the gate wouldn't bring him closer to her, he stepped forward. When he reached her, he smiled and held out the orchids. A sudden gust of wind caught his hat, and he reached up to steady it, catching his breath.
“How have you been?” he whispered. Four simple words, carried by forty years of depth.
An hour later, as he turned to leave, the wind gusted again. The orchids resting on Divya’s grave stirred gently, as if she were leaning in to catch their scent. Satish caught the movement and smiled.
“Yes, I’ll eat on time,” he promised. “See you tomorrow, my love.”
How unlikely it is to love her even though she left him blind in the universe…….
