A Love Story Written by Mistake

Not the college he planned, but the love he was meant for

Satish had just finished his 10th standard in Bangalore. Like every other city boy, his plan was simple - join PU college, finish 12th, then decide what to do next. His parents also wanted the same. They had already shortlisted a good PU college, and one morning, Satish left home to go for admission.

That day was supposed to decide his future…
But fate had a different plan.

While travelling in the bus, Satish noticed a girl standing near the door. She was wearing a neat uniform, holding books close to her chest, with a calm face and confident eyes. For a moment, the noise of the bus disappeared for him.
It was love at first sight.

He didn’t even know her name.
He didn’t know which college she studied at.
But he knew one thing: he wanted to see her again.

When the bus stopped near a college, the girl got off. Without thinking twice, Satish also got down. He followed her slowly, trying not to get noticed. She walked straight into a campus gate.

Satish looked up at the board.

It was not a PU college.

It was a Diploma college.

For a few seconds, he stood there, shocked.
His whole plan was to join PU… but his heart was pulling him inside that campus.

He took a deep breath and walked in.

Inside the office, he asked for the admission form. The staff asked,
“Which branch?”

Satish remembered all the days he used to go with his father, who was a building contractor. He had seen construction sites, cement work, drawings, workers, and machines since childhood.

He replied without thinking,
“Civil.”

He took the form home. His parents were confused at first, but Satish convinced them. He said a diploma would help him start working early, and he already knew something about construction. After many arguments and explanations, his parents finally agreed.

Satish joined the diploma college.

But on the first day… he didn’t see her.

Second day… no sign of her.

Third day… nothing.

He started feeling that maybe he had made the biggest mistake of his life.

Then one afternoon, while walking in the corridor of his floor, he saw her standing with her friends near the next classroom.

His heart stopped.

He looked at the class board.

2nd Year Civil

He was shocked.

She was one year senior.

From that day, Satish started making friends in the second-year class. Slowly, he became closer to them than his own classmates. He would sit with them during breaks, go to the canteen with them, roam around the campus with them, all just to be near her.

At first she only smiled.

Then they started talking.

Then they became friends.

Soon, the whole gang became one group. After college, they would all go to the bus stand together. Sometimes they would stand there for hours talking, laughing, teasing each other, not wanting the day to end. Satish would always make sure she got into the bus safely before leaving.

Days became months.
Months became a year.

Now Satish was in the 2nd year…
And she was in 3rd year final year.

Everyone in the gang knew they liked each other.
They behaved like a couple… but neither of them confessed.

One day, the college arranged an outing. That day, Satish finally gathered courage.

He took her aside and said softly,
“I love you.”

She didn’t reply.

She just looked down and walked away.

After that day, everything changed.

They stopped talking.
They stopped standing together.
They acted like strangers.

Satish felt hurt and angry.
She felt scared and confused.

After a few days, he called her to the ground behind the college building. He made her sit on the steps and asked,

“Why are you acting like this? At least tell me the reason.”

She started crying.

She said slowly,
“I like you too… I really do. But I’m scared. My family… religion… they will never accept.”

Satish stood up without saying anything and walked away.

From that day, he started ignoring her completely.

She couldn’t bear it.
She told her friends everything.
One evening, the whole gang made both of them sit together to clear the problem.

Everyone was silent.

Satish spoke only one line.

“I loved her… I still love her. If she has trust in me, she should choose me. Otherwise, I won’t force.”

She started crying uncontrollably.

Without thinking, she ran to him and hugged him in front of everyone.

That day, their love became real.

After college, their families came to know.
There were fights… tears… anger… and many months of struggle.

But they didn’t give up.

They married against family wishes.

Life was not easy after that.
Things didn’t go as planned.
Satish didn’t continue in civil field.
He went into a completely different line of work.

But one thing never changed.

They were together.

Sometimes life takes you to the wrong college…
Just to take you to the right person.

And for Satish, following one girl in a uniform changed his whole life forever. ❤️
